August 18, 1934-February 10, 2018

  Barbara Schlenker of Ventura, CA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 10, 2018. She fought a brave battle against the horrible disease of Dementia. Barbara was born on August 18, 1934 to Charles Thomas Corey and Wilma Bowmen Corey in Santa Monica Hospital, Santa Monica, CA. Barbara lived in the Los Angeles area most of her younger life, then in San Fernando Valley where she raised her children: Christina Lecky, William (Butch) Lecky, Laura Lecky, Sherman Kurtz and Brent Kurtz. Then in her retirement years she lived in San Clemente, Laguna Woods, Camarillo and Ventura, CA, with her husband of 33 years David Schlenker.

    Barbara’s true passion was gardening; she had an amazing ability to beautify the world around her. She enjoyed quilting and was an avid dog lover. All this paled in comparison to the joy and blessing of her family. She relished the moments when we would all gather together.

   She was preceded in death by her sweet daughters, Laura Lecky Pratt, Christina Lecky Lorona, and is survived her loving husband, David Schlenker; devoted sons, Butch Lecky, Sherman and Brent Kurtz; step-sons, Lee and Jim Schlenker, and her treasured 21 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

   Her funeral service will be held on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building located at 10400 Henderson Road, Ventura, CA.
