Beverly Stowe

November 16, 1932 ~ October 1, 2017 (age 84) 84 Years Old

Beverly Jane Stowe was born November 16, 1932 in Ohio. She grew up in Akron with her two sisters Beulah and Thelma. Her father worked for the Firestone Tire Company making what he called “quality tires the hard way.” At the age of eighteen Jane became a secretary and moved to Washington D.C. to work where she met the love of her life, Arthur Lee Stowe. They were married December 1, 1951 in Rome, New York. They honeymooned in Niagara Falls. After that, Jane’s life as an Air Force wife began, filled with many adventures and travels. With two young children in tow she traveled first to Japan. With five children, she spent three years living on the third level of a German farmhouse…which her children remember with fondness and she remembered as a lot of work!

But all the hard word never dimmed Jane’s love for travel. Whenever possible she and Art loaded their children in their VW bus and visited the rest of Europe, singing old folks songs along the way. Wherever they went Jane took amazing pictures. She passed her passion for music and photography on to her children and grandchildren.

When they returned stateside Art was stationed at Oxnard Air Force Base. Jane and Art found their home in Ventura County and bought their first house in Hueneme, California. With more children under her wing, Jane continued her civil service work as a secretary.  Eventually she moved into accounting with the Navy at Port Hueneme and stayed there until her retirement. Since Art had retired earlier, they bought a motorhome and traveled the country hunting rocks for Art’s lapidary hobby and Jane’s photography. They had friends and collectibles from around the world. They belonged to rock hunting clubs and were avid game players. With her travelling days over, Jane never lost her love of a good card game, snapping a great photo or listening to a good song…preferably sung by her talented children.

Jane is survived by her seven children: Winnie, Gary, Danny, Jim, Bob, Tina and Venus, her nineteen grandchildren and thirty-five great-grand children.

Rest in peace, Mom.
