Tu Yong Pak died unexpectedly at St. John’s Hospital on October 12, 2017 in Oxnard, California at the age of 76.  Tu Yong is survived by his children, Chong Pom Pak (Isabel,) Chong Hui Jade Torres (Nick,) and grandchildren Samantha, Christian, Shaylee and Parker.

   Tu Yong was born on January 3, 1941 in Pusan, South Korea to Chang Sun (mother) and Chak Tok (father) Pak. He was the youngest of seven children and attended high school in South Korea.   He married Chu Cha  on July 21, 1973. Over the course of five years, the couple welcomed two children into their home and Tu Yong set about moving to the United States to pursue a better future for his family.  Chong Pom and Chong Hui remember him as a hard-working, strong, and a thoughtful dad who encouraged them to pursue their goals.

   After moving to Oxnard, California in September 1977, Tu Yong attended Oxnard Adult Education to learn English and Oxnard College to earn his welding certificate.  He began working for PAC Foundries as a welder.  Tu Yong was accomplished at drawing and often drew pictures for his children.    He was a generous individual who loved to spend time with his grandchildren and friends. He was a member of the Oxnard Korean United Methodist Church.

  A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on October 24, 2017 at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park, 2052 Howard Road, Camarillo, CA 93012, and burial to follow where he will be laid to rest next to his late wife.  There will be a reception at 3:00 p.m. at Mandarin House, 4585 Pleasant Valley Road, Camarillo. Pastor Jeong Gu Lee from the Korean Presbyterian Church of Ventura County will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Tu Yong Pak's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to a charity of your choice. The family would like to thank St. John’s Hospital for his care.
