Anda entered the glory of heaven on Wednesday, September 19th, 2018, after a tragic, unexpected accident. Born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, she and her husband Rob recently celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary. She spent most of her life helping others, whether as a social worker counseling runaway teens, working as a Christian preschool director in Santa Rosa, California, or most recently and for the last dozen years as the owner/operator of group homes in Ventura for the developmentally disabled.
She loved life, loved her family, loved sharing hugs, loved old hymns and contemporary Christian music alike, she loved horses and she loved dogs but more than anything she loved Jesus. It was while living in Sonoma, California in 1991 that her husband shared he felt called to the ministry as a second career. She encouraged him to pursue it, relocating the family to Fort Wayne, Indiana to attend seminary. After that it was back to the other end of California to be ordained and begin serving God’s people in a new way. Although her now Lutheran pastor husband might have considered she would be no ordinary pastor’s wife, and she was not, she was a surprise only in the very best ways. Her joy was contagious and her hugs were unavoidable.
In the midst of it all, she raised a beautiful daughter, Aija, who in turn blessed her mom and dad with a beautiful grandson, Shane.
Anda loved her annual trip to meet friends and watch the humpback whales in Maui. Lahaina and especially the Ultimate Whale Watch won’t be quite the same without her yearly visits. She had so many friends in so many places. She was so blessed in life and now even more blessed in life everlasting with all those who were waiting in heaven to welcome her home, safe at last in the arms of Jesus.
An 11:30 a.m. memorial service is scheduled for Friday, September 28th at Peace Lutheran Church, 71 Loma Drive, in Camarillo.
