Barbara Leal

  Barbara Ann Leal, 84, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2021 at her home surrounded by family after six years living with Alzheimer’s. 

  Barbara was born on Oct. 1, 1936 in Cranston, Rhode Island and was raised in Madison, Maine.  She moved to California with her younger brother Harold Clevette in 1962.  She lived in Chatsworth when she met her future husband Alberto on a blind date and married one month later.  They moved to Camarillo in 1965 where she remained a life-long resident.  They raised two children, and Barbara volunteered in many of her children’s activities from school PTA, classroom mom, team mom for sports, and was a dedicated fan in many of her daughter’s soccer and softball games.

  She worked for DiHo Enterprises as an electronic assembler and retired in 1996 to care for her grandchildren.  She loved her grandchildren immensely and made grandma’s house the place to be.

  Barbara was an avid bowler with her husband Al and was a member of the Gold Coast Women’s 500 Club.  She loved her Wednesday night bowling, traveling to tournaments with friends, and continued to bowl well into her 70’s.

Barbara is survived by her husband Al of 56 years and children Harold (wife Sherry) of Ada, Oklahoma, daughter Heidi (husband Kelly Driscoll of Camarillo), sister-in-law Maggie Clevette of Camarillo, and grandchildren Paige Leal, Raigen Leal, and Thomas Driscoll.  Her family have all preceded her in death, parents Joseph and Sylvia Clevette, and brothers Joseph and Harold.

  A celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021 at 11 a.m., Chapel of the Hills, Conejo Mountain Funeral Home, 2052 Howard Road in Camarillo.
