Bart Claus, of San Clemente, was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 7, 1933 to Eleanor Claus. He passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 after succumbing to complications from a stroke. Upon graduating from high school in NY, he traveled west to attend college in Tucson, Arizona. Bart was a star football athlete for the University of Arizona Wildcats. This is where he met some of his life-long friends who he kept in contact with to this day. Upon graduating college Bart served in the U.S. Army where he played football as well. Bart moved from Arizona to Southern California in the early 1960’s where he and his family of five found their home in Thousand Oaks, California and resided there for many years.
Bart was so loved by many and of all ages and he lived life to the fullest. He really enjoyed his golf, his sports teams like the Angels and the 49ers. He danced at weekly outdoor concerts & enjoyed hanging out at Dana West Yacht Club. “When Bart was around, good times were had by all.” He loved spending time with his fellow veterans at the Dana Point 5th Marine Regiment and volunteering his time to many military causes.
He loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother Eleanor Claus and son Michael Bart Claus. He is survived by his daughters Caroline (James), Catherine (Jack), 2 grandchildren, Crysta & TJ, Jackson Weed and two great grandchildren, Kylie and Tommy.
