Eduardo “Eddie” Avila, a son, brother, father, and friend to all, passed away on May 6, 2021.
His infectious love for life touched everyone he met. The joy he found in everything will live forever in all of us. He was born on April 20, 1973 in Santa Barbara, Chihuahua. He passed away at the age of 48 in his home in Oxnard, surrounded by loved ones. His courage, good humor and perseverance did not falter.
Eddie was a loving, genuine, humorous, and a God-loving man. He lived life out loud like only he could. Eddie did not take a single day in his life for granted and he did everything in his power to make people around him happy. His faith in God and desire to spread the Lord’s word to those he encountered was his path in life. Eddie was compassionate, generous, funny, and incredibly loving. Eddie was not afraid of failing and he failed often. There was no hurdle or obstacle that Eddie would not face.
Eddie beat all his problems by how he lived, why he lived and in the manner in which he lived. He fought hard and when he got too tired, he laid down and rested and he let somebody else fight for him. The people that he loved, his friends and family fought for him. His motto was, “Do not give up, don’t ever give up!” His ailments did not touch his heart, his mind, or his soul and those three things are what he left behind.
Today, Eddie rejoices in heaven with his oldest sister Lola. Eddie will be sorely missed by all of us. If you want to change the world, measure a person by the size of their heart not by the size of their feet. Eddie had a big heart. We all felt it. The idea of not feeling it anymore is what is bringing us all to tears, but his memory can live on through his spirit. Thank you, Eddie, for teaching us how to laugh, how to cry and how to love.
Eddie was preceded in death by his Brother Martin and his Sister Maria. He is survived by his mother Maria Lucila Avila, his father Tomas Avila Sr., his wife Maricela; his children Brianna, Sabrina, Ryan and Bella and his brothers and sisters: Thomas, Yolanda, Veronica, Miguel, and Nadia.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 13, 2021, 11:00 a.m., at the Chapel of the Hills-Conejo Mountain Funeral Home, 2052 Howard Road, Camarillo. A Catholic Funeral Service will begin at 12 noon with burial following services.
All are invited to attend the backyard reception at Eddie’s home located at 730 Saratoga Street, in Oxnard.
In lieu of flowers, his family requests that you consider doing a random act of kindness in Eddie’s honor.
