Emilia "Amy" (Kunz) Bomwell, age 89, passed away on Sunday, May 28th 2023

Emilia was born on September 30th 1933 to John and Agnes Kunz in southeastern Poland. She was the first-born daughter of seven children. As a child, she and her family were forcibly placed in a Nazi labor camp in Germany until liberation by the U.S. Army in 1945. The family was sponsored by Catholic Charities and Saint John's Church in Fairfield, Montana and settled in Great Falls, Montana. Emilia graduated from Central Catholic High School, Great Falls, Montana in 1952 then followed her brother, Kasimir, to Irvington, New Jersey. She was married to Kazimierz Rachwal for 22 years and had children, Richard and Krystyna. She was widowed and later married Robert "Bobby" Bomwell in Lake Worth, Florida. In 2011, she moved to California to be closer to her daughter and grandson.

Emilia was a devoted mother and wife. She had a love and talent for making perogies at Christmas time with family and would inevitably take command of the kitchen (hers or yours). She loved being close to the ocean in Florida. A devout Catholic, she regularly attended church as long as she was physically able. Emilia epitomized selflessness by dedicating her life to supporting others. Her careers included service to others as nursing assistant in pediatrics, baking and catering at the Polish Falcon.

Emilia was preceded in death by her husbands, Kazimierz Rachwal and Robert Bomwell; son, Richard Rachwal; parents, John and Agnes Kunz; brothers, Thomas and Kasimir Kunz; sisters, Stella Kunz, Anne Marie “Nuni” Israelski and Helena Rutkowski who passed exactly one month prior to her older sister; and nephews, John Sczyerk and Dennis Kunz.

Emilia is survived by her daughter, Krystyna Emilia; brother, John (Colleen) Kunz; grandson, Ethan Veitch; nieces, Kika (Tom) Cochran, Danuta (Dana) Swanson, Barbara (Jason) Milstead and Barbara Kunz; nephews, Tom Kunz, Joe Sczyrek and Christopher Kunz; grandnieces, Shannon Sczyrek Hollfelder, Kimberly Symczyk and Tiffany Drohan; grandnephews, Payson Dickinson, Remington Wood and Grant Wood; cousin, Phillip (Janel) Krezowski and godson, Stanley Sczyrek.
