Erich Carl Anders passed away at his peaceful home in Somis, with his devoted wife and loving family by his side, on January 31st, 2018.He had suffered a massive heart attack eight weeks prior.

He was born on October 5th, 1938 in Munich, Germany to mother, Erna and father, Erich Martin Anders. Erich lived with his parents and sister, Erika, 13 years his senior. He enjoyed a life playing outdoors in the city streets until the outbreak of World War II when Hitler ordered the relocation of all women and children to the Alps to dwell with country families. Following the war, much of his childhood was spent playing amongst the rubble in the war-torn city as adults tried to rebuild.

In 1953, 14-year-old Erich and his parents sailed to the U.S. to join his sister, Erika who had moved to marry an American soldier. The family settled in California. After Jr. College, Erich enlisted in the Army. During his service, he was deployed to Korea, North Carolina and Berlin. In 1962, Erich enrolled at Cal State Northridge, receiving his B.A. and teaching credential. He married Beverly, who gave birth to their beautiful daughter, Tina in 1966 and son, Kurt in 1968. Erich earned his Master’s Degree, and throughout his 30-year career, worked as a teacher, Vice Principal, Principal and Assistant Superintendent in the Pleasant Valley School District. During that time, Erich bought his beloved Somis property, his home of 48 years.

In 1980, Erich married Dianne, who has been his devoted, beloved wife to this day. Marrying Dianne brought him two new children, David and Debbie. They have been happily married for 37 years, enjoying a life filled with traveling, gardening, scuba diving, fishing, golden retrievers, planting a vineyard, beekeeping and enjoying life together as soulmates, lovers and best friends.

Erich is survived by and will be dearly missed by his adoring wife, Dianne; daughters, Tina and Debbie; sons, Kurt and David; niece, Anja; great nieces, Kaitlyn and Erin; 10 loving grandchildren, Niguel, Quentin, Kelly, Luke, Bryce, Brianna, Trevor, Merrick, Braylon and Kian; and his loyal golden retriever, Shadow.

The family would like to thank our amazing friends and family for their constant support. In addition we’d like to thank Buena Vista Hospice and Pacific Senior Care for their kindness and wonderful care.

Services will be held on Saturday, February 10th at 2pm at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park in the Chapel of Islands.
