Georgia Rae Carpenter went to her heavenly home on March 27, 2021. She was born in Okemah, Oklahoma to George and Rachel Marvel. She met her future husband, Orvene Carpenter, in the 4th grade. Upon completing the 11th grade in Arkansas, she moved with her family to Port Hueneme, California and graduated from Oxnard High School, class of 1944. A renewed friendship started when Orvene returned from WWII. They married in 1946, celebrating their 75th Wedding Anniversary in February. After retiring from the Seabee base of Port Hueneme as an Accounting Clerk, she served two terms as Elder of the Presbyterian Church.
Georgia and Orvene had 3 children: Jerry (Judy), Dennis (Shirley), and Jan (Harold). Those 3 children resulted in 6 grandchildren: Trevor, Jeremy (Jennifer), Megan (Ryan), Geoff (Christine), Jon, Janelle (Torrey) and 9 great grandchildren.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, George and Rachel, her brother Norman, 3 children, Jerry, Dennis, Jan and grandson Trevor.
She especially loved her role as “Mamaw” and started many family traditions such as chili beans and cream cheese pie for Christmas Eve.
As a woman of Faith, she dedicated her life to support her husband, children and grandchildren in their many adventures with patience, grace and humor. Our beautiful Wife/Mom/Mamaw will not only be missed by family but by all the lives she touched.
Celebration of Life (Graveside) will be held Friday, April 9, 2021, at 2:00 PM, Conejo Mountain Memorial Park, 2052 Howard Rd. Camarillo, CA 93012. Masks are required at all times.
In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation in Georgia’s memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (www.jdrf.org), the Michael J. Fox Foundation (www.michaeljfox.org) or your favorite charity.
