Tribute

It is with profound sadness we report the unexpected passing of Glee L. Lewis, 82, on Tuesday, July 27th after surgery at St. John’s Hospital, Camarillo.  Glee was a resident of Oxnard for over 60 years.  She was born in Waitsburg, WA and raised in Bremerton, WA where she graduated high school and attended college.  Glee moved to California and was employed by the City of Oxnard for 40 years, working in a number of departments and retiring in 2000 as their Network Services Coordinator in the Information Technology Dept.   Glee was very active in her community, always supporting those in need as a volunteer and served as a member of the Salvation Army Board for over 25 years, as a member of the Oxnard Women’s Club/Chamber of Commerce, and a committed supporter of the Brain Injury Center.

Glee loved the excitement of new places and travelled extensively.  Her journeys took her from the splendor of Kenya to the beauty of Europe, from rafting in Copper Canyon to hiking down the Grand Canyon and she especially loved her cruises to Alaska with friends. As part of a catamaran crew, she sailed through the Panama Canal and also sailed from Oxnard to Hawaii. She was always comfortable in any setting and made new friends everywhere she travelled.

At home, Glee enjoyed playing Bunco regularly with ‘the girls” and visiting with friends and neighbors.

All those who knew and loved Glee will dearly miss her love of life, her deep compassion, her uncompromising friendship and the infectious laugh which would brighten everyone’s day.  Her legacy will surely be that each of us should live strongly, love deeply and laugh often. She will be sorely missed.

Glee is survived by two uncles, an aunt and a host of cousins and friends who will all remember her fondly.

All are welcome to attend a memorial Celebration of Life service to be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021, 2:00pm, at the Chapel of the Hills-Conejo Mountain Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 2052 Howard Road, Camarillo, CA 93012, 805-906-7978.

Flowers are welcomed, or if you wish, a donation to the Salvation Army or the Brain Injury Center in her name would be appreciated.
