All who knew him counted themselves extremely fortunate to have had Henry ”Royden” Badger in their lives. Henry Royden Badger otherwise known as Roy, was born on August 16, 1926 to Henry W. and Ila Oakes Badger in Rangeley, Maine. He attended high school in Auburn, Maine and then enlisted in the Navy and served for 2 years. Upon discharge, he attended and earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from the University of Maine in Orono.

Roy began his professional career at Pusey and Jones machine manufacturing company in Wilmington, Delaware and worked there until 1952 at which time he began his 30 year career with IBM. While employed at IBM, he worked in Owego, New York and then in Westlake, California. He was pleased to be part of the Apollo Project team while at IBM/Federal Systems Division. He retired in July 1987.

He met his loving wife of 55 years, Jean and they had three daughters, Debi, Cyndie, and Cheryl. He and his wife developed a love for Dixieland Jazz music.

Roy spent the last 14 months at Vista Del Monte Senior Residential Community in Santa Barbara and prior to that lived 17 years at Leisure Village in Camarillo where he was very active and served on committees at both locations.

He is survived by his daughters Debi Badger from Santa Barbara; Cyndie Lundberg from Castle Rock, Colorado; Cheryl Badger from San Diego; and his two grandsons, Erik and Jason Lundberg.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Roy’s memory to the First United Methodist Church/Santa Barbara - Youth Programs.
