I met Dr.P in the ER on the 4th of July 1984. A drunk driver hit me while riding my motorcycle. I was fortunate he was the on call Orthopedic Surgeon, I didn't know it at the time. He was direct, yet compassionate delivering the diagnosis. He performed a Harrington rod procedure to fuse my broken spine. He would sit and talk with me during his evening visits, while I was in the hospital for three weeks. After another surgery an rehabilitation, over two years had passed, and I could walk, go back to work, couch kids, play softball. My good fortune to have met this man didn't end there, neither did his pcare, and concern for me. Like many spinal injury patients I was injured again, this time on the job. I went right the man, Dr.P. He treated me while the workers comp case raged on, when it was in process he continued to see me, even when insurance lapsed, he saw me. The comp co got so frustrated losing ground due to Dr P's reporting, they got their one win, forcing me to choose another Dr. After talking w Dr P, I took the insurance co. Dr, who completely agreed w
Dr.Percival. He was always there for me. Two more surgeries would follow, and I would consult w Dr.P before and after, a Costco tub of red licorice was the only payment needed. He would check the X-rays I brought, read the surgery plan, and take the time to talk with me. He cared , and knew what his
opinion meant to me. I would add his work never
failed, and is solid to this day. Another level of my spine failed. When my case took 13 long years being fought, he would see me when needed, even telling his office mgr, my cost would be $25 for an appt, after her complaints. Still looking out for me. He was instrumental in getting my SSDI benefits, a big part of winning y comp case, and was always there, to help, advise, and tell some of the best stories ever. Sitting by my hospital bed in the early years to sitting in his office eating red vines, he made time for me. When my wife needed shoulder surgery, his partner was scheduled, when I said I wished it was him, he delayed his vacation trip a few hours to be there. I will never, ever forget the time, the care, and his sense of humor-and the great adventures he told me about. His affect on my life was great, and he will be missed. My deepest condolences to his family, This post comes late, I wasn't aware of the site, and was out of state for an extended period at the time of his service. Had I known, I would have changed my plans , to honor Dr.P. Thanks for being there Doc, for your service to this country, and your care and the valuable time you gave to me. I will be forever grateful.

WONDERFUL MEMORIES

He wrote me when in the war (pen, paper & stamped envelope) I still have those letters, telling me about his time there & thanking me for teaching him how to behave (said he was bunking with some Latter Day Saint members)
I worked as a recovery room RN with him for 10 years at Pleasant Valley Hospital & he never once cussed or raised his voice to me! Always very kind, polite & attentive.
He dearly touched me me when in the ER with my very sick baby girl & I went to X-ray with her; he apparently saw us as he was leaving the hospital. He walked back to the X-ray department, came in & asked me "how's the baby?" He told me I could always call him anytime if we ever needed anything! How do you not love someone like that!
Rest in peace Dr. Percival, a true friend & a marvelous doctor, surgeon & dedicated serviceman to our country ~ Thank you!

I first met Col. Percival at the U.S. Army War College , later when I moved from Alaska to Camarillo and started working at P. V. Hospital I turned the corner and there he stood in green scrubs . Over the years he patched my body up on several occasions we would have a quick laugh and move ! RIP !

Having raised 3 very active boys, we were frequent visitors to Dr. Percival's office with broken bones. He was 100% confident in what approach to take, 100% honest with what to expect, and 100% of the time our broken bones and surgeries were successful. I will always remember him with a bucket of red vines in his hand. He loved what he did and gave many peoples' lives back to them through his amazing ability as a surgeon. This is a huge loss to our community and to his family. Thank you Dr. Percival for all that you did for us. Our lives are better because of the skills and talents you were so richly blessed with. I didn't know Dr. Percival. However, I teach his son Wes and it is evident Dr. Percival must have been a good man because I see in his son traits of great wisdom, honor, thoughtfulness, creativity and a desire to do things well. Those are traits a son carries on from his father. May God bless the Percival family during this sad time.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Hacker
