Tribute

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Jerry. He had succumbed to his 10-year battle with cancer.

Jerry was born September 27, 1945, in Seattle, Washington to Harold and Elsie Jean Dammeier.

Upon graduation from Queen Ann High School, he entered into military service. Jerry served in Viet Nam with the 5th Marines. He was a Navy Corpsman attached to fleet Marines. Time served 1962 – 1966.

Jerry embarked on his career in retail, working as an assistant manager of “W.T. Grants”.  He became a buyer of woman’s clothing for “Grants” home office in Manhattan, New York.  That is when Jerry met and married his wife of 50 years, Vivian, who also worked for the company.

They quickly moved back to California. Jerry spent years being transferred to various store locations. He managed stores in Santa Rosa, Chula Vista, National City, (where their first daughter was born), Oceanside, Camarillo (where the twins were born) and Ridgecrest.

Jerry then managed Unity Buying Services until Harbor Freight occupied the building. He was fortunate; people valued his knowledge of retail.  While he helped them prosper and grow, he also succeeded on accomplishing his own goals. Jerry climb the corporate latter, carrying various titles until he retired as president.

Jerry was very regimented, you could set your clock by his routine. Every year he wrote out a bucket list of things to do, travel plans, home improvements, etc. and was able to scratched them all off.  His life was full. He loved spending time with family and friends. Jerry toured Europe, vacationed in Hawaii and Mexico, visited various places around the United States, family outings, and camping with family and friends.  His all-time favorite was the family home at Bass Lake doing all the fun stuff the lake provided.

Jerry enjoyed deep-sea fishing. He played on a softball team for years. He loved the Lakers and the Seattle Seahawks (his hometown team).

Jerry will be sorely missed by all who had the good fortune to know him. To all those who have reached out to us in thoughts and prayers, a heartfelt thank you.  To Scotty (Jerry’s lifelong friend and buddy) thank you and God bless you supporting our girls, and Angela & family, being that comforting shoulder we all need right now.

He was preceded in death by his son, Justin Dammeier; sister, Sherri Dammeier Poletti; parents, Harold and Jean Dammeier; stepmother, Geneva Dammeier; and grandparents.

Jerry leaves behind his wife, Vivian Dammeier; daughter, Danielle and Vanessa Dammeier; grandsons, Jacob Dammeier (Bri), and Jaden Dammeier Le Fleur; and great granddaughter, Lyla. He was uncle to 12 nieces and nephews; and great uncle to 24.

Until we meet again, our beloved Jerry. Rest in Peace.

There will be a private burial service for immediate family. Flowers may be sent.
