Joan V. Bober

Joan Bober passed away on Saturday September 1, 2018 ending her long battle with lung disease caused by Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency, she was 71 years old.
Joan was born on August 10, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois. After receiving a Bachelor's degree from Chicago State University, Joan became an elementary school teacher for the Archdiocese of Chicago where she taught for many years at St. Andrew School. In 1982, Joan moved with her mother and father upon their retirement from Chicago to Camarillo where she began teaching at St. Mary Magdalen School. Joan taught various grades at St. Mary Magdalen for the next twenty-five years, retiring in 2007. Soon after arriving in California, Joan earned a Master's degree from California Lutheran University.
In her retirement, Joan enjoyed the company of her many friends from her year's teaching at St. Mary Magdalen. She especially enjoyed the regular lunches with these friends to keep up on happenings with their lives. As Joan's health declined, she could no longer get out of the house very often. She turned to the Chicago Cubs as her regular companions. She watched every game, home and away, on television. A special joy was seeing the Cubs win the 2016 World Series.
Joan is survived by her sister Dianne Kerekffy (Geza) of Camarillo, niece Kim Mueller of Camarillo, nephew Walter Bobkiewicz III (Patrice) of Evanston, Illinois, grandniece Krista Askenas and grandnephews Jake Mueller and Walter Bobkiewicz IV. Long-time friend Claire McCarthy was at Joan's side throughout her long illness and her final days.

A visitation beginning at 5:00 P.M. will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park, 2052 Howard Rd, Camarillo with the recitation of the rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. A funeral mass followed by burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, September 7, 2018 at St. Mary Magdalen Church, Corner of Las Posas and Crestview, Camarillo.
