Joanne Josephine Virginia Losio Januzik passed away peacefully in her sleep at Avamere at the Statford in Phoenix, Arizona, on June 14, 2020, two and a half weeks shy of her 87th birthday. Born in Chicago, Illinois, to Joseph and Anna Losio, she met her husband, John Paul Januzik, while attending Carl Schurz High School. Her marriage to John in 1953 was celebrated with their close circle of family and friends. She thoughtfully maintained frequent contact with this group throughout her life while living in Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, California, and Arizona. As a longtime resident of Conejo Valley, California, she worked for the City of Thousand Oaks and regularly attended mass at St. Jude’s Catholic Church and St. Paschal Baylon Church. While residing in Phoenix, Arizona, she enjoyed volunteering and participating in activities at the Sunnyslope Senior Center and attending mass at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Joanne enjoyed reading and singing; two activities she pursued wherever she was, whether at home, in the church choir, or at Avamere at the Stratford. Her greatest joy was to celebrate the birthdays of others, and she will forever be remembered for this loving gesture. All of her family and friends have received a heartfelt card, gift, and song from Joanne. While battling long term illness and the loss of loved ones, Joanne never lost her affinity for the sweetness to be found in life.
She is survived by her children Mike (wife Renee), Nancy, Brian (wife Karen), David (wife Dawn), John (wife Karen), grandchildren, Robby, Tianna, Ricky, Chris, Dylan, Ashley, Matthew, Stephen, Ryan, David, Jaina, Joshua, and several extended family members.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 10:00 am at the Chapel of the Hills at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park: 2052 Howard Rd, Camarillo, CA 93012.
