Juliana A. Knuppel

    On March 7, 2018 Juliana Antonia Knuppel, age 94, of Oxnard passed away peacefully in her sleep. Although afflicted with Alzheimers in the final years of her life, the darkness of the disease never dimmed the glow of her warm and caring feelings for others. “Omie” as she was affectionately known to the many family members she leaves behind, will be terribly missed by all of us who were blessed to have her in our life.

     Juliana immigrated to the United States in 1956 from the Netherlands with her husband Jan, who predeceased her in death in 1981 and their six children. For many years she was employed as a cook at Sunkist Elementary School, and retired as the Head Cook. Her love of cooking and caring for others extended to her home and the many large family dinners for which she prepared delicious cultural dishes. Her selfless effort to make others happy was a hallmark of her character. The warm memories of the family gatherings she fostered will continue to serve as a comfort to those of us striving to deal with her loss.

   Juliana is survived by her six children: Jacobus Knuppel, Winneke Knuppel Carlson, Donald Knuppel, Sylvia Y. Turpin, Richard Knuppel and Gerald Knuppel. She also leaves behind eleven grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. She was a preceded in death by one grandchild, Douglas Knuppel.

     There will be a public viewing from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the Conejo Mountain Memorial Park, 2052 Howard Road, Camarillo, CA 93012 on Thursday, March 15, 2018. A memorial service will be held at same location on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 1:00 P.M.
