Tribute

Marilyn Adams passed away on April 19, 2022 after several years of declining health. She was an active and longtime resident of Camarillo, California and spent the last 3 years in Kansas to be close to her family to help her with her medical needs.

Marilyn was born on August 4, 1943 in Hoisington, Kansas to William and Vera Lang.  She graduated from Radium High School outside of Larned, Kansas in 1961. It was at Radium that she met the love of her life and husband of 55 years, David “Dave” Adams. Marilyn and Dave were married in 1962 and moved from Kansas to California.  They had 2 sons, Gary and Chris. While supporting a young family, Marilyn received her nursing degree and worked for years in Ventura County as an RN. She worked in a number of health care settings over the years, including as a hospice nurse and lastly as a community health nurse with the Camarillo Health Care District.

From 1981 to 1984, Marilyn and Dave lived in New Jersey and Mississippi while he worked on the Mobil Engineering team for the production and ship integration of EW systems for the USS Yorktown.  She worked as school nurse while there. The family traveled extensively throughout the east coast during this time with many fond memories, including the long drive out and back in a U-Haul truck while towing a Plymouth Horizon and a boat, followed by their Chevy Caprice. They kept in contact using CB radios. Marilyn’s handle was Ms. Busy Body. That handle described Marilyn perfectly as she was always on the go with work, socializing with her friends and caring for her family.

Marilyn and Dave were long time active members of the United Methodist Church in Camarillo. She was active with the Bell Choir and with organizations within the church. In 1997, she was blessed with triplet granddaughters and 2 years later a grandson. She so enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow up, attending many of their sports and school events. Her grandchildren have brought years of joy to Marilyn. The joys provided positive emotional support to her during the difficult times she went thru being the primary caregiver for Dave as he battled numerous medical issues for years.

Marilyn was a friendly, social, loving and caring soul that touched so many lives. She always wanted to make sure everyone was happy and would always call and make sure visitors made it home okay and to let loved ones know that she and Dave made it home okay from trips. She loved her home in Camarillo and was a skilled gardener; winning numerous first place awards at the Ventura County Fair for the fruit she grew. She will be missed immensely by her family, church family, and many friends.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Dave, her parents, and her sister Carolyn. She is lovingly survived her sons Gary Adams (Rob DeGruttola) and Chris Adams. Granddaughters  Brooke Adams, Kayley Adams, Sarah Adams, grandson Ryan Adams, and their mother Erin Adams. Sister in law’s Dawna Adams and Diana Lunsford, and nephew Adam Lunsford. Family requests that In lieu of flowers, donations be made to Camarillo United Methodist Church in her name.
