Tribute

Myrna Harline passed away unexpectedly Friday morning, March 9th at her home in Ventura, California.  Myrna was born in Bard, CA on June 6, 1936 to Truman and Lavenia Sipes. She was raised and attended schools in Taft, CA until her family relocated to Santa Paula, CA. Myrna graduated from Santa Paula Union High School in 1954.

Soon after high School, Myrna met her husband, Hardy Harline at Prindle’s Gas Station where Hardy worked. Myrna’s mother, Lavenia, really liked him and took credit for setting them up. They married in 1955 in Santa Paula with their families by their sides. Over the years, Myrna worked in Military Affairs and as a Port Services Specialist at Port Hueneme Military Base for close to 30 years. She loved her job and enjoyed playing a role directing large vessels in and out of the port. Myrna took tremendous pride in her family and her country.  She made Ventura County her home for over 66 years. She enjoyed shopping, movies, bowling and spending time with her daughters, family, and many friends.

Auntie Myrna, as she was affectionately known to her nieces and nephews will be remembered for many reasons, especially her kindness to others and her positive outlook on life. She truly loved to laugh and tell jokes.  There was always a sparkle in her eye! Over the years, she was very active in her community and was a member of various groups.  Most recently, she was active with the American Legion, Post #48 in Oxnard. She also loved her days at Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura as a member of the Pink Ladies.

Myrna was preceded in death by her husband of over 30 years, Hardy, her parents, Truman and Lavenia Sipes, her brother, Terry Sipes, brother-in-law, Ray Shoemate, and her sister-in-law Mary Sipes. She is survived by her daughters Shelly (Steve) Brodbeck, and Lori (Jeff) Nelson, grandchildren; Tawni Murray, Andrew Brodbeck, Tiffany Brodbeck, Molly (Cameron) Piontek, Gracie Wyrick, and Tessa Nelson.  She leaves behind a brother, Glenn Sipes, and sister, Beverly Shoemate, nephews Brady (Kathy) Shoemate, Marc (Kate) Sipes, and Mike (Natty) Sipes and nieces, Keely (Steve) Brown, and Shani Casagrande, numerous great nephews and nieces along with many dear friends.
