Pearl was born and raised in Greenberg Pa. in 1932. She was the second child of the late Michael and Katherine Spino. She attended Greenberg High School, was elected “Classroom President,” and was an active member of the GAA Club. Pearl was also a lifetime loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, LA Lakers, many times attending their games at the Forum. To say the least Pearl was an Elvis fan, possibly his number one fan. She never missed a concert when he was in Las Vegas!
Pearl met the love of her life in High School, Bob Mench, and graduated in 1950.
In 1953, Bob and Pearl were married on their parents’ 25th wedding anniversary. For the next 64 years, they lived happily-ever-after.
In 1954, during the Korean War, Bob and his brother-in-law in listed in the Marines. In 1956, Bob and Pearl were blessed with their only child, Greg.
Pearl wrote, “In 1970, the family moved to Camarillo. Terry Clites and his wife, Rosemary became our next door neighbors in 1984. At the most difficult times in their lives, they have always loved and helped us, day or night. We believed that sometimes families blend, not by blood, but just by love. We couldn’t have been closer.”
Pearl continued, “In 1993, our son Greg was diagnosed with a terminal disease. We took time from work and spent every possible minute with our son until he met God on July 12, 1994.”
Bob and Pearl then with family began to travel.
After 64 years of marriage, in 2017, Bob suffered a heart attack and survived for nine days. Bob passed away on April 1, 2017.
Months after the passing, Pearl broke her ankle; however it was really her heart that was broken. After months and months of motivating her to recuperate, it was futile. Our special, wonderful Pearl could not wait to be reunited with her husband and son again. Her heart would just not mend. Our hearts maybe broken but we know for sure she is overwhelmed to be in heaven with her son and husband again.
