Rowayne Russell Haglund

July 12, 1939 ~ June 18, 2017 (age 77) 77 Years Old
Rowayne R Haglund of Newbury Park, CA passed on from this life into the presence of God on June 18, 2017. He was the essence of quiet dignity and will be forever remembered as a man of character and strength. Wayne (as he preferred to be called) was born in Los Angeles, CA on July 12, 1939 to Roger and Margaret Haglund. He was the youngest of his siblings Roger and Patricia, and it became apparent early on that doing his own thing was to become his trademark. Wayne excelled at the cello and French horn from a very young age but much preferred sports and cars to performance. In high school, he enjoyed membership in a car club and developed lifelong friendships from this hobby. His natural inclination for mechanics followed him throughout his life. He had an uncanny ability to fix almost anything which made him an asset to all neighbors and friends. Following high school, Wayne enrolled in the Marine Corps reserves, a duty which he gladly fulfilled for the next 6 years. One day he met a beautiful British woman named Sandra who would soon become his wife of the next 49 years. Together they have six children and six grandchildren. Wayne was not a man of many words, but to those that knew him his sense of humor was a trademark characteristic. He was an avid reader and scriptorian. He loved to read the word of God and could often be found late at night poring over scripture. Wayne regularly attended gun shows all over California where he had a plethora of loyal friends that he loved to entertain with stories of his youth. He treasured the visits of these friends to the family home where they would discuss at length the craftsmanship of various items. Wayne’s dedication to his wife and family began a legacy that would span almost 5 decades. Their fondest memories include annual camping vacations to the Kern River where he would regale them with stories of Roscoe, a fictional character he developed that was a globetrotting adventurer. He was always there for any one of his children to talk to at any given time. Friends describe him as compassionate, dependable, well-respected. Extended family call him steadfast and loyal. We know him as the devoted father who would always answer our call, at any time of day. The man that we could trust, the true constant in our lives. We know him as Dad. Wayne Haglund is survived by his wife Sandra Haglund and children Sherrie (David) Pierce of Riverside, CA (Breanna, Desiree, Nicolette, Hunter), Danielle Haglund of Salt Lake City UT, Darren Haglund of Seoul, South Korea (Mason, Vince), Elise Haglund of Henderson NV, Seth Haglund of Malibu CA, and Clint Haglund of Gilbert AZ. He is preceded in death by his father Roger Walter Haglund, his mother Hedwig Margaret Haglund, his brother Roger Wilford Haglund, and his sister Patricia Haglund Nielsen.
