Sandy, David, Suzie, Tom and the rest of the family:
I will always remember S.J. as a family man, war hero, dedicated public servant and believer, a true patriot. He loved his family and always made me feel welcome in his home. When I would come over to play with Tom, when we were kids, he would tell me "take off your shoes and jacket, and stay awhile!" I remember his war stories and listening to him tell about his adventures delivering the mail, even in the worst weather, on a rural route. Getting up in the middle of the night to go to the Post Office to sort the mail then load mail into his jeep and deliver it all the way out to Franksville. Gloom of night, rain, sleet or snow, as the unofficial motto goes, never stopped him from getting the mail delivered. At least his years in California more than made up for those rough winters! He will be missed, but I know he is in a better place now.
