Tribute

Shirley Roselene Beck Morgan was born December 11, 1933; the youngest of five children. She passed away on January 12, 2023 at the age of 89.

Music was an important part of her whole life. Born and raised in Fandon, IL. She was a member of the small church choir around the age of eight.  Also, at about that time her father taught her the “chords” of playing the piano by “ear” which was natural for her – like her father.

Her singing progressed to performing solos at the age of 10, in several school community events throughout different towns in the area. She won several amateur contests and in high school participated in district and state levels.

She played trumpet in the high school band and was a member of a 4-H club. Her demonstration and a dress she made advanced to “state status”.

She was a “cheerleader” (basketball) and salutatorian of her high school class.

Two years after graduating from high school, she met and married Norbert Beecher and four children were born. Ten years later Mr. Beecher died of a heart attack.

After five years she married Robert D. Randall until his death in 1989 of cancer.

In 1992 she married John C. Morgan. They met at a dance in Thousand Oaks. After a couple of years, they moved to Camarillo Springs for their retirement years. She loved living in Camarillo with so many nice friends and fun things to do.

She loved golf and was the first women’s golf champion at Simi Hills. She also belonged to Los Robles women’s golf, and Camarillo Springs (champ 2001).

No matter which town she lived in she always sang in her church choir (St Paschal, Thousand Oaks – 40 years). She felt what talent God gives you should give back. She sang with several choral groups. Ventura County Master Chorale (12 years), Choral Society of Southern California (14 years). She traveled extensively in Europe with different choral groups.

Her greatest joy was her four children. Daughter Rhonda (deceased), her husband Tom Power, grandchildren Chad, Troy, Amanda and great-grandchildren Brooklyn, Presley, Everly and Emerson.

Son Robin Beecher and wife Kim, grandchildren Brittany, Sammy and Zachary, great-grandchildren Aveda, Lincoln, Delilah, Leona and Ellei.

Son Randy Beecher and wife Stacy, twins Sydney and Blake

Son Michael Beecher

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Rhonda, a child (lived 21 hours), her brother and three sisters.

Lew Meyers was her companion for several years. He passed away in September 2020. They shared many happy memories.
