Trinidad Micua Escalona
September 8, 1934 ~ May 9, 2017 (age 82) 82 Years OldShare Tribute:
Trinidad Micua Escalona went home on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 to be with our Heavenly Father. She was born on September 8, 1934 to Donato Raquedan and Matilde Micua Raquedan in Pantar Norte, Balaoan La Union, Philippines.
Trinidad was a woman of great fortitude, perseverance and resolve. Having left her homeland and family at the age of 23, she headed to America with high hopes for a bright future and a better life. As a young immigrant, she faced the overwhelming obstacles of learning a new language and a new culture in a new land. Although she was now thousands of miles away from all that was familiar, she never forgot where she came from, and the love she continually carried in her heart for her family. She would forge ahead, despite all challenges, building new friendships, gaining steady employment and immersing herself in every aspect of learning that would ensure her success. Soon after, she was married and started a new family.
Trinidad is survived by her two daughters, Nancy Gulsvig (husband, Jerry) and Trini Escalona (partner, Alex Sierra); her only son, Steve Ruiz (wife, Michelle) with grandson, Noah Ruiz; her sister, Dominga Raquedan Roxas; along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren, by marriage; and several nieces and nephews.
Her Filipino culture has always remained important to her, along with her faith in Christ Jesus and the Catholic Church.
Loved dearly and remembered forever, “We miss you already, Mom.”
