Tyler Alexander Portanova, 25, passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at Fort Irwin Military Base. He was born on December 22, 1995, in Camarillo, California to Armando and Diane Portanova. He graduated from Coalinga High School and continued his education at California State University in Fresno. Tyler enlisted in the United States Army and served proudly as a Practical Vocational Nurse until his unexpected death.
Our beloved Tyler at a young age began watching the New England Patriots and they became his football team for all time. Tom Brady was his idol. He loved sports both playing and watching them. Tyler loved to cook, the outdoors, fishing, hiking, the beach and mountains. He had many friends throughout his life. All who knew Tyler loved and respected him and he them.
Tyler was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Emily Russo, Armando and Katherine Portanova; uncle Rev Frank Russo; and cousin, Robert Popp.
He is survived by his parents, Armando and Diane Portanova of Coalinga, CA; sisters, Robin Meyer of Oklahoma and Emily Portanova of Coalinga, CA; nephews, Cody, Logan, Sam, Carson and Jacob all of Oklahoma; uncles and aunts, Mike and Mary Ann Russo of Minnesota, Mark and Marie Berkovich of California, John Russo of California, Anne Cardera of California, Maria and Lester Nelson of Missouri, Leon and Grace Portanova of California, Michael and Michelle Portanova of California, Kathy Ann and Chris Dillingham of California; cousins, David and Kirstin Berkovich, Andrew and Rachel Berkovich, Kimberly and Eric Allen, Christopher and Kelly Russo, Lindsey and Tim Coulter, Samantha, Larry, Jr, Kristina, Heather and Sean, Justin and Shyanne, Nyckole and David and Cierra Portanova; second cousins, Vivienne, Quinn, John Jr. (JJ), Lenore and Elise, Benjamin, Charlotte, Brooklyn, Luna, Augustus, Aurora, Finn, Everlly, Santana and Olivia; soul mate, Alexa Maes; his pet and best buddy “Kida”.
Visitation and Viewing will take place on Friday, May 21, 2021, from 5:00 until 8:00 pm, at the Chapel of the Hills-Conejo Mountain Funeral Home, 2052 Howard Road, Camarillo. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 6:30 pm.
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021, 11:00 am, Padre Serra Parish, 5205 Upland Rd., Camarillo, Ca 93012. Burial will follow at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park.
There will be no reception following services, due to Covid restrictions.
