February 3, 1940 ~ May 1, 2019 (age 79) 79 Years Old

Tribute

Vicente Uichanco passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 1st, 2019 at 6:50 am surrounded by his family. He fought a long but courageous 5-year battle against lung cancer. He is survived by his wife of 57 years (Nellie Uichanco), his three children (Greg, Larry, and Mari), four grandchildren (Robert, Tiffany, Garrett, and Brandon), and one great-granddaughter (Ava).

Vicente graduated from the University of the Philippines in 1961 and received his Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering. In 1971, he received his Masters of Science in Agricultural Engineering, Major in Power and Machinery at the University of the Philippines at Los  Banos (UPLB). He worked as an Engineering Instructor, Design Engineer, and Senior Project Engineer. In the latter years of his career, he opened up a family business in the automotive repair industry alongside his eldest son, Greg.

In his spare time, Vicente enjoyed ballroom dancing with his wife, playing golf and tennis, riding his motorcycle, being an active member of the local Catholic Church, and spending time with family and friends. Everyone who was blessed to know Vicente remembers him for his kindheartedness, generosity, and thoughtfulness. He valued his quality time with family, and he was loved by everyone who he met. His warm, genuine and contagious smile will be greatly missed.

Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi

Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace!

That where there is hatred, I may bring love.

That where there is wrong, I may bring the spirit of forgiveness.

That where there is discord, I may bring harmony.

That where there is error, I may bring truth.

That where there is doubt, I may bring faith.

That where there is despair, I may bring hope.

That where there are shadows, I may bring light.

That where there is sadness, I may bring joy.

Lord, grant that I may seek rather to comfort, than to be comforted.

To understand, than to be understood.

To love, than to be loved.

For it is by self-forgetting that one finds.

It is by forgiving that one is forgiven.

It is by dying that one awakens to Eternal Life.
