I got to know Dave and sweetheart Shirley over the years from being friends with his daughters caring family. I liked him from the start and admired his great service to our country. We shared a vacation once and that only made me enjoy Shirley and Dave's company even more. His loving wonderful family is a great testimony to his life, he will be missed.

Dave was a wonderful person. We worked together for the past 10 years from separate coasts, but the fact that he was an intelligent, warm, and funny man was always clear, even from 3000 miles away and over the phone. My heart goes out to Shirley and the rest of his family. He was one of the good guys.

Dear Shirley and Family,
Dave was not only a close and dear friend but, moreso, an uncompromising gentleman, a staunch and faithful shipmate, and a superb professional. He was respected and admired by all with whom he came in contact. He will be painfully missed and always remembered. May he rest in peace.

Dave was both a co-worker and a friend. Our co-worker status ended 14 years ago but our friendship remains and will continue with and through Shirley. I am so grateful for the opportunities we had to break bread together in California on recent visits and especially happy I had the chance to introduce you to Oliver. You are loved and will be missed. After we heard of your passing, we lit candles for you in every church/cathedral we visited on our river cruise. Love you Dave! Love to you Shirley!

It was a real honor to get to work with Dave over the years at MAR with the M/V Independence. We were also honored to have Dave and Shirley visit my motorcycle shop when they came over to the Ft. Lauderdale area several years ago while they were on vacation. On our last visit to Ventura we enjoyed having dinner with Dave and Shirley at their home and got to share our love for Mini Cooper cars which both Shirley and Jacqueline love to drive. Dave will be missed here on earth but due to his faith in Christ I know that he is in a much better place now and I will get to see him again. Praise God for Dave Clements and for the great impact his life here on earth had on those who knew him.
Sincerely,
Wes and Jacqueline Scott
