John A. Dounias
July 2, 1958 ~ July 14, 2017 (age 59) 59 Years OldShare Tribute:
John A. Dounias died unexpectedly of a heart attack July 14, 2017 in Agoura Hills, California. He was born July 2, 1958 in
Los Angeles, California to Argires and Sally Dounias and was baptized at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox church in Los Angeles. He grew up in Encino California where he graduated from Crespi Carmelite High School in 1976. John was an excellent student and good grades came easily to him. He was a favorite among his teachers and they always enjoyed his quick wit.
As a teen, John was an active Boy Scout and very mechanically inclined. He had a natural sense of how things worked and spent many hours a day with his friends rebuilding their dirt bikes. John was still close with many of his childhood friends at the time of his death. As an adult, John worked as a landscape designer and builder, starting his career working for a well-known landscape architect. Later, he started his own landscape and construction business where he worked most of his adult life. John was also a talented musician who enjoyed playing the piano and guitar. John had the “gift of gab” and was never short of words and would talk as long as you let him. He had a story for everything and would always embellish it with humor.
John leaves behind many family and friends who loved him and is survived by his parents, Argires and Sally Dounias, his daughter Jessica “Peach” Dounias, his sister Sandi Palmer and her husband Don, nephew Jeffrey and niece Katy Palmer, and an aunt and uncle and several cousins who live in Greece.
We will miss John dearly – especially his twinkling blue eyes and infectious laugh. We know that someday we will see him again in heaven.
