Rosemary Rath Carson
October 9, 1932 ~ February 22, 2018 (age 85) 85 Years OldShare Tribute:
On Thursday, February 22, 2018, Rosemary Rath Carson passed away peacefully at home.
Rosemary was born October 9, 1932 in Seattle, Washington, the first of three girls born to Henry Lewis Rath and Anna Bell Rhees Rath. In 1935, the family moved to Los Angeles, California. Growing up, Rosemary developed a love for singing and began singing professionally at eight-years-old. With her mother’s support, she continued her soprano training at The Julliard School. In 1954, passionate about education and music, she graduated from USC to become a teacher.
In 1955, Rosemary married Robert T. Carson, Jr., MD. Together, they moved to Oxnard. They lived there until 1969, before settling in Camarillo to raise their family.
Throughout her life, Rosemary found joy in cooking, collecting antiques and sharing her knowledge. She had an eye for rare finds and could be found at a garage sale at the zero hour to ensure she brought them home. Her vast knowledge as a collector made her an unparalleled asset as a founding member and recurring auctioneer for the Camarillo Antique Club. She has oft been described as a dynamic woman who knew much about many things. With her wit and humor, she brought life and enthusiasm into every room and had a knack for making others feel important. Her conversation and passionate spirit will be sorely missed.
Rosemary is preceded in death by her son, Patrick James Carson and her sister, Nancy Carolyn Meyer. She is survived by her sons, Robert T. Carson III (Carol) of Camarillo and Craig Rath Carson (Nancy McLaughlin) of Clay, New York; her sister, Beth Elaine Bell (Gordon Settle) of Marina Del Rey; her grandchildren, Robert T. Carson IV (Veronica Kopp) of Cupertino and Victoria Carol Carson of Los Angeles; and her many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Sunday, March 4th at 2pm in the Chapel of the Hills at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park in Camarillo. Condolences may be offered at www.conejomountain.com.
